The Launching of DAGS Club
Demonstrator Application Grant Scheme (DAGS) club was recently launched
by YB Dato' Seri Law Hieng Ding, Minister of Science, Technology and
the Environment on 7 January 2002 at Mid Valley Mega Mall.
Law said out of the 114 applications received for
grants, 48 have received approval from the ministry. These covered many
community and social projects.
More than 20 booths were set up and comprised of recipients from DAGS
to showcase their community web initiatives.
Mustazar Sulaiman, Project Manager, who showcased
AKISNet and its Community Outreach Program - PadiNet, represented TMM
Biotech Sdn Bhd in explaining to the Minister about the essence of AKISNet
and Padinet.
The idea for the DAGS club was mooted by the DAGS
Secretariat, with support from the National IT Council. The DAGS Club
primary aim and purpose is to gather all DAGS initiatives under one
umbrella.
The DAGS Club is expected to be the perfect platform
for members to exchange ideas and experiences which they have encountered
to realise the various e-communities via the DAGS funding initiative.
